Kylie Westerlind was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. She holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Montana, in Missoula.

During her time at the university, she served as an instructor of composition, rhetoric, and fiction. She acted as one of the 2018-19 fiction editors for CutBank literary journal and also co-hosted the reading series, Second Wind, a reading series that paired MFA students with members of Missoula’s literary community.

She currently resides back in her hometown of Reno, Nevada, where she works part-time as a substitute teacher for Washoe County and is a member of the Carve Critiques Services team for prose. On the side, she also copywrites for several local businesses.

Her stories have appeared in the Madison Review and Carve Magazine. Her work is forthcoming in Fearsome Critters and the Citron Review.

She is currently at work on a collection of short stories set in the neon-desert wonderland of Nevada.
